Last year about this time I asked my husband, "Think I could make a leather belt?" He thought for sure I could, because he always has more faith in me than I think he should. With some research, some trial and error (a lot) and some faith we started AN Leather Design.

I always knew I needed a creative outlet. My dad is an artist. I grew up watching him create something out of nothing. That's what I wanted to do. Isn't that was life is about, anyway - leaving a person, a place, and or situation better than how you found it.?  Everyday that I seek Jesus, He does this in my life, makes me better than the day before. Let's do that!

I love creating custom leather pieces. Something useful and uniquely you. Something that is going to last.  Leather is timeless. It is fashionable and practical at the same time. Really, not much is these days.

This year I am realizing the importance of SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY.  Gift shopping is hard, I get it, been there. Hello Amazon Prime! But I challenge you this year to really think about the person you are gifting and the person (family) you are supporting buying that gift. Give them something with meaning, not something with a department store gift receipt.

I really do have the best customers. Local, miles away, even states away, I am so thankful for ya all! You keep this dream of mine going!

This year AN Leather Design partnered with our very own Brand Rep, Rachael.  She represents everything our brand is about so well. Recently, we sat down and did a fun "10 questions with Rachael" post.  Hope it helps you to get to know her a little better!

Again, THANK YOU for loving my work!

How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as vintage classy. I am in love with lace, fringe, and neutral colors. And, if there is away to be stylish and comfortable - I always do that.

What do you enjoy most about your role as Miss Rodeo Dallas county?
My favorite part of being Miss Rodeo Dallas County is being able to do so many things I am passionate about all at the same time. I love being able to ride my horse and compete, promote rodeo and agriculture, and talking to kids about getting them involved in their community and youth organizations

What do you love most of about rodeo fashion?
Rodeo fashion is incredible. I love the versatility of it and how I can incorporate little bits of it into my everyday style. I don't always wear full western fashion from head to toe, but you won't often find me without a touch of fringe, turquoise, or leather

Number one fashion staple you cannot live without?
If you saw my closet you would know that I cannot live without the perfect cream lace dress. I have more than I'd like to admit! I love pairing it with a cute leather jacket, boots, sandals, or in the winter a long sweater.

Describe your current favorite pair of boots.
There are so many amazing boots that is a hard question! However, I would probably have to say a simple pair of brown leather boots with a pointed toe. Something that is fancy enough to go out dancing in but simple enough that I can hop on my horse and ride.

When did you realize you wanted to pursue veterinary medicine as a career?
I grew up on a farm in central Iowa surrounded by animals and agriculture. When I was 8 years old I decided that I wanted to be a part of the agricultural heritage I was brought up in. Veterinarian was the job I chose and it has turned from a childhood dream into a reality as I am just a few years away from being called doctor

So, your obviously an animal lover! How many pets do you have? Be honest!
I could not imagine my life without animals. I have stayed pretty good numbers wise, but that will probably change when I graduate and want to adopt all of the animals that come through my clinic! I have 2 amazing horses and one beautiful dog.

Favorite band right now?
I am a big fan of good country music, and lately i have been loving Cody Johnson! He has new stuff but it feels like traditional country and I think his voice is amazing

If you were at Starbucks right now, what would you order??
Once again - my style is reflective of simple and classic - I love coffee but I don't love all the stuff people put in it. Give me a good old cup of black coffee and I am a happy morning person!

What's next for you in 2018?
So many things! I feel like I am already busy for practically the entire year with travel plans, rodeos, conferences, and more! I look forward to continuing my veterinary education, and maybe running for another rodeo queen title.  :)
